Charity Work
Angela Weaver and Sue Law formed Tamarind Tree Originals to assist workers in Kerala, South India, after the Tsunami destroyed most of their fishing fleets.
We support one family in particular but also the various workers involved in producing the fabric and the garments. In early 2008 a fresh link was made with a womens co operative in Rajasthan near to the town of Udaipur. Tamarind Tree Originals have commissioned work from this co-operative and are currently marketing new and exciting products.
We give support to the Jaswant Charitable Trust set up by the Royal Family at Deogarh Mahal to provide a hospital for the area and schools for desert children.
These schools are very impoverished and Tamarind Tree hopes to be able to provide ongoing support to enable this trust to employ an additional and much needed teacher as well as basic supplies. We have so far made a donation to aid water supply to one of the desert schools.
Twice a year Tamarind Tree Originals hold a special event to showcase the latest designs and acquisitions of exciting Indian and Chinese and Japanese garments and accessories.
To date the special events held in 2007 and 2008 have raised over £1200 for CHASE Children's Hospice in Guildford.
